Basic ASL for Special Education

Service Description
This course is synchronous - you will have access to the included modules and can learn at your own pace. Live class meeting will take place for 60 minutes and will include live lessons, practice, and engagement with the instructor and classmates. You will be sent a form to respond to your preferred day/time for the live class meeting. You will have access to handouts, videos, and additional resources and information within the virtual classroom. Please note: You will need to attend the live class meeting to qualify for completion of the synchronous course. Synchronous meeting will be held at one of the following times: - Monday 4p - 5p - Thursday 4p - 5p - Saturday 9:30a - 10:30a A minimum of 6 students and a maximum of 15 students will be accepted for each synchronous session date. Additional dates/times will be available if each posted reaches capacity. American Sign Language for Special Education is a single live course with access to additional online materials that teaches an introduction to basic ASL signs through a vigorous curriculum designed for special education staff. This is the ideal course for a teacher, support staff, related service provider, or administrator who wants to add ASL into the classroom or who works with students who utilize ASL signs in the special education field. This course covers the following topics: - Basic needs - Basic requests/commands - Basic preferences and activities - and more! This course is not intended to prepare individuals for the interpreting field nor is the program goal to provide degrees or transcripts for courses. Students who complete this course will receive a certificate of completion should they successfully meet the requirements of the course.
