Introduction to Basic ASL I

Service Description
This course is synchronous - you will have access to the included modules and can learn at your own pace. Live class meetings will take place weekly for 60 minutes and will include live lessons, practice, and engagement with the instructor and classmates. You will be sent a form to respond to your preferred day/time for live class meetings. Please note: You will need to attend a minimum of 6 of 8 live meetings to qualify for completion of the course. Synchronous meetings will be held: - Tuesday 5p - 6p - Wednesday 6p - 7p A minimum of 6 students and a maximum of 15 students will be accepted for each synchronous session date. Additional dates/times will be available if each posted reaches capacity. Introduction to Basic ASL I is an 8-week course that teaches an introduction to basic ASL through a vigorous curriculum. This is the ideal course for a student who wants to explore their interest in ASL but does not have the time to commit to an extended course. This course covers the following topics: - Basic greetings and introductions - Exchanging personal information - Basic sentence structures - and more! This course is not intended to prepare individuals for the interpreting field nor is the program goal to provide degrees or transcripts for courses. Students who complete this course will receive a certificate of completion should they successfully meet the requirements of the course and are encouraged to seek out performance evaluations if they intend to continue their ASL studies formally.
